Error #103
This error means that the entered password could not be checked online (e.g. if the account already exists). This could have happened due to a timeout of our server or a slow internet connection. Can you simply try the installation again and possibly (for testing purposes!) simply use a different e-mail address as login? The best thing to do is to reboot your PC once before reinstalling it. Another reason could be the “intermediate spark” of any antivirus solution.

If it does not work repeatedly, we recommend uninstalling the antivirus program as a test. After uninstalling the antivirus program, always restart it once (this is important!) and then try installing the parental control again. If it now works, then install the antivirus program again. For some customers, the antivirus program seems to behave correctly if the parental control was first installed on the computer. If the installation does not work even after the (temporary) removal of the antivirus program, you will find an error.txt or an install.log in the directory c:\windows\cc. Please send us this in case of an error. Please send us this information via e-mail to support@salfeld.net stating the login name used.

Error #105
This error means that the initial synchronization with the Web Portal could not be completed. This may be due to a one-time timeout of our server or a temporary, unstable network connection. Please restart the PC once. Then check whether an Internet connection exists. Then restart the installation.

Error #108
This error means that a user account could not be initialized and transferred correctly. Is the PC a member of a company network or a domain? Please try to restart the PC in the first step. Then download and install the latest version from the the Download area. If error 108 occurs again, you should find the files install.log and error.txt in the directory c:\windows\cc. Please send us this log file with your login name to the e-mail support@salfeld.net.

Error #109
This error occurs if there are difficulties when transferring data from a previous version (e.g. Child Control 2015). In this case, please uninstall the previous version completely. If the 2015 version is no longer available, you can download it again under the following link, install it and remove it immediately after the first start via File -> Uninstall. Link to the 2015 version: https://salfeld.net/prg/chico2015.exe

After this procedure you should restart the PC once and then download and install the current version again in the Download area.

Error #10012
This error means that a service could not be started correctly. Possibly something “jammed” or an antivirus program prevents access. Can you restart the computer once and then try the installation again? Have you possibly installed a third-party antivirus program? Many customers were able to solve the problem by uninstalling the antivirus software once, then restarting the PC once (restarting is really important!), then installing Child Control and then installing the antivirus again. Another reason (after receiving feedback from other customers) could be the installation of Acronis True Image software. For other customers, uninstalling True Image, installing Parental Control and then installing True Image again helped. If this is still not successful, you will find an install.log file in the c:\windows\cc\ directory if the installation fails. Please send us this file by e-mail to support@salfeld.net with your login name, so that we can check what is running wrong on your side.
